Christians used to be sure of what they believed...
by THE GLADIATOR inrecent events on this board have got me thinking, which is no small feat.
christians are arguing more with each other than with atheists.. christians used to be sure of what they believed solid in their faith and certain of its foundation cornerstone and what he was called.
only non-believers cast doubt and were crushed under a mountain of bible passages that were heaped upon them.

A chance at the big prize - just because they ate too much!
by THE GLADIATOR inthis jw teaching that those who die at armageddon will not be resurrected but those who die before armageddon will be resurrected, always seemed unfair to me.. many have given up waiting for god to get his finger out and cleanse the earth of sinners like me.
they have concluded that the awe inspiring day of jehovah - armageddon no less - is a hoax.
dreamed up by john, high on something hallucinogenic and presented as a divine revelation.

I like being shunned - how about you?
by THE GLADIATOR init was painful at first but now i see the advantages of not having needy relatives spending the weekend with me and scoffing my food and raiding my bar.
my wife is happier too.
it's like having a heavy rucksack removed.. i have 39 jw relatives and 38 of them shun me along with the army of ex-friends who remain in the tower.

Is it unacceptable to stand up for Jehovah's Witnesses on a site called Jehovah's-Witness.net?
by THE GLADIATOR ini fail to see why people such as alice in wonderland, bane and others, are regularly singled out as tolls.
demands are repeatedly made that they are shunned and thrown off the forum; while people like perry, who rant on with pages of controversial drivel, are considered acceptable?.
i personaly don't view any of them as trolls, just people who feel a need to stand up for what they believe.

Memories of My Childhood
by THE GLADIATOR inwith a full-time job, his responsibilities as a servant, endless door-to-door work, a young family and a house to renovate, fathers nervous energy found an outlet in his constant movement.
he only seemed to sit down to eat or study one of the many watchtower publications that now filled a whole bookcase.. do you have to do that?
why dont you sit down, youll wear the carpet out, mother complained, as he paced up and down the small room.. this was no ordinary carpet.

The French Connection continues...
by THE GLADIATOR injust returned from a 3 day sojourn to france with my older abrother.
the overnight ferry pushed on through a sea of snoring to arrive on time in le havre.
i drove as my stoic brother examined his seat belt and air bag and quietly contemplated the possibility of an afterlife.

Where did it all go wrong?
by THE GLADIATOR inbeing a jehovahs witness is getting easier with each worldly year that passes.
time is not getting shorter but meetings are, along with assemblies.
in my day the closing prayer lasted longer than the whole modern assembly.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.
by THE GLADIATOR inthree cheers for australia!
muslims who want to live under islamic sharia law were told on wednesday to get out of australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
a day after a group of mainstream muslim leaders pledged loyalty to australia at a special meeting with prime minister john howard, he and his ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.
